About Me
My main interest is discovering how fabrics can be manipulated through stitch to change both the surface and texture. I take my inspiration from the natural environment. Some of my pieces have evolved by looking at the lines found on bark, shells, stones or the contours found in the landscapes around me. I use a limited colour palette to create my pieces as I feel this helps to capture the found objects identity.
My love of fabrics, threads and stitching probably started from an early age but it wasn’t until I attended an Adult Education group studying Traditional Needlecraft that I became really intrigued. Following on from this I then went on to complete City & Guilds in Machine Embroidery and City & Guilds in Creative Needlecraft.
I exhibit as a practising artist with fellow textile artist Debbie White during Bucks Art Weeks, held each June throughout Buckinghamshire. I am also a member of the textile group Work In Progress.
